You don't have to shout, your clothes do it for you!

Personal Style

The way you dress says a lot about you. It can say," I don't really care how I look", "I am the center of attention" , " I hate the world", "I am trendy but love to be comfortable", " I am desperate and need attention", or "I love my body and want to be beautiful." When someone looks at you they get an impression. You inform people about you without saying anything. Just a glance is all it takes. They observe how you carry yourself, your independence, your self- esteem level, and if you just don't care what other people think. I can look around today and see how people dress. Many people today, in general, don't have that personal style. Fashion is all about personal style. Develop it. Work on it. This is a great aspect of you that you might not really consider. Ponder about what you like to wear. Go into your closet and experiment with what looks good together. Don't stop and think. Just do it. If you wait and think about it before you do it, you won't put it together.

Forget about everything around you and let your mind go crazy. Just expand your thoughts to the widest bounds of the fashion industry. It doesn't matter what other people think at this point. No one can see you right now. Once you have developed this, build on it. Keep going. Never quit. Fashion is never ending. It is a blank canvas waiting for the artist to create his masterpiece.

Dear Fashion Queen,

What is your advice for someone who attends a school where uniforms are required?

Thanks,

Dear Barb,

It actually depends on what your uniform looks like. For example, if you're portraying the whole, "plaid skirt with the blouse" look, then I would suggest tall socks and laced pumps. Here is an example of what I am talking about, just to give you an idea.

On the other hand, if you're going for the khakis and button up, you could also do the heels, but be careful with this. I would suggest getting your pants tailored for the wide legged look.

Here's an example of this, just so you get my drift. Put some pointy toed shoes with it, these always look great with some loose pants. When you're getting them tailored, you want to get them fitted at the very very top, from the waist until the crotch, haha. Grab a wide belt and put it with the pants. If either of these is what you're looking for, I'd be happy to give you more advice.
