What if?

Oh, So you're too Busy?

Some people say they don't care about the clothes that they put on their back. "Oh, I have more important things to do than to carry about that."This is something people tend to say, but what they don't realize when they walk out of their house with their lumpy sweater on is that it isn't just a sweater. Even something as minor as the color of the sweater is important. It isn't just a color, it developed after hours of experimentation from designers until it finally reached the hands of those that care more about what kind of soap they put on their hands. My question is, "What if?" As those two simple words travel through your mind, so do tons of other questions concerning the two basic words.

What if fashion never progressed?

Picture this. You're in the stone age. You look down and you're draped in an old skin that is anything but immaculate, from an animal that you can't remember what was. The fur has started to come off and is blacker than soot from the effect of you sleeping on the floor. The holes are growing daily. Everyone would look the same- disgusting. You're now in the 21st century, in the same drab wardrobe. If everyone looked the same there would be so many people being held back, artistically. Some people put their artistic nature into what they wear, but if it never progressed, you wouldn't be able to tell much about anyone. Often you get your first impression by what someone wears, but if everyone's wearing the same thing, you would just walk by people thinking, much of nothing.

What if the greatest designers never lived?

The awe set forth by the iridescent garments would have never come to be. The colors so many of us love would have never existed. Not many people take much time to think about the magic these people put into this world, but it is very prominent. Not to mention the time it takes to design and put together these breath-taking raiments. This also goes back to the previous question. Fashion would have never progressed.

Some think fashion is a waste of time. But if it was a waste of time, we wouldn't be spending this much money on it now would we. This "waste" sets you apart, for example, when you go to a job interview and have the same qualifications as someone else but yet, they dress in a sophisticated tailored pin skirt and white silk button-down blouse, and your attire consists of ripped jeans and a collared shirt. Appearance is the first opinion they develop of you. Therefore, when they see the sophistication of someone else, they automatically think, wow, he/she must be highly educated and well advanced in his/her major. What you wear definitely has an effect on people. Be careful, you never know who's watching, or who you might see.

Colors Galore!

Out with the Dull in with the New

Oh my lands! I about died when I looked in a magazine yesterday! I have been looking for some bright finger nail polish for over a month now, and I haven't been able to find any that I'm too fond of, until now. I normally can deal with the Wal-Mart brand nail polish, I mean come on, it's not that big of a deal to go and grab a 99 cent bottle of polish off of a shelf. But since it only lasts a max of like, what, maybe three days, it kind of gets old. So normally I go to a nearby salon and grab some Opi. I prefer this brand because it tends to last longer, and your nails look absolutely fabulous when you use it. So I'm looking in this magazine, right, and flip the page, and see an Opi ad that has the headline MOD across the bottom of the page! I was ecstatic! It's practically every color I've been looking for- HOT pink, lime green, bright orange, and bright red.

Since it's summer now, make sure you're nails are as prepared as you are. Stick with your bright colors, don't go with dull, or black. It's too harsh. Save it for winter. You can still go with a dark blue, just make sure it doesn't have a black undertone. Stand out! Go crazy! That's what summers for, right?

Can we pull it off?

More Leg Room Maybe?

Whoah BABY! Look at the new pant coming off the runway! This is exactly what I thought when I first saw them. The drop- crotch pants are catching numerous eyes.

Their debut was made at 3.1 Phillip Lim, while soon coming in other forms at Nicole Farhi, Gucci, and YSL, where they rode high on the waist and dipped down below. They were first shown last fall with no particular reason. But now, we've been trying to get out of the overdone- the domination of dresses, leggings, and skinny jeans. Jodhpurs were first trying to make their way in, being led by Balenciaga, which led other designers to expand their ideas in accordance to shape. Both Marc Jacobs and Pilati tried pleats. I have a feeling they're trying to go for a more relaxed look.

Does this not remind you of something you'd see a guy wear? It definitely puts those thoughts into my head. It looks as if we're now combining femininity with masculinity. This is a very dramatic turn from the strikingly tight pant. You have to know how to wear this new pant though. Make sure you have on a sharp high heel, and when paired with a jacket, makes a very nice alternative to a suit. But then again, with the rate fashion is going now, what can you expect? The changes are eminent. We'll just have to go with the flow and keep up with fashion's brisk pace.

Helpful Hints

Hey everyone! I'm back with some simple tips that I think you'll enjoy.

Make- up Tips

With make- up you need to keep it fresh. If you want to accentuate one feature don't go all out on the others.

1.Flawless Face

Want a great foundation? Start with the basics.

a. Start with a good concealer. This will cover your flaws for the next steps. Don't cake it on. Apply little amounts only where needed.

b. Put on your foundation. Make sure you blend well. Blend, blend, blend; especially around your chin, jaw bone, and hair line.

c. Apply a subtle bronzer down the bones of your cheeks. This will give your face definition.

2.
Entrancing eyes

If you enhance your eyes the right way they can turn out to be your best facial feature.

a. Mediums: If you want to play it safe, earthly colors are always your best choice. Personally, coppers and golds are some of my favorites to use. You always put your medium color on first. Cover your lid with this, and slightly go up into the corner, and smudge with your finger in a vertical motion.

b. Darks: Next, put a darker color on the outer corner leading into the center. The darkest part would be on the outside. Blend this into the middle color about halfway on your lid. Also, put this eyeshadow lightly on the bottom lid in the outside corner. This will make your eyes look bigger, which is definitely a good thing.

c. Lights: Now you will use your lightest shadow and shade in your top and bottom lid in the inner corner to give your eyes more dimension. Next, shade the upper part of your lid to blend the dark and medium colors into. Make sure you blend everything well.

d. Next youll use your liner. Depending on what color you use, you don't want to over- do it, especially since you have a good amount of shadow on. Take the liner, and trace your upper lids from the inner corners to the outer corners, or vice versa. White liner is very "in" right now, but when you use this, make sure you use a very limited amount of shadow and mascara that's not black. A plum or brown would be a good alternative.

3.
Lengthy Lashes

I have found the absolute best way to put on mascara! No matter how long your eye lashes are they can look absolutely wonderful with these simple steps:

a. Firstly, apply a very small amount on your top and bottom lashes of each eye. Start at the very inside of the lash and run the wand slowly to the tip to spread your lashes out and give them length.

b. Secondly, wait a few minutes for them to dry. This allows them to stay in place so you can make them darker without them moving next.

c. Once they've dried apply mascara all over your eye lashes, apply a good amount to the tips to make them look longer.

4. Luscious Lips

When putting lip gloss or lipstick on your lips do these simple things for fabulous results:

a. First apply a long- lasting chapstick or lip soother like Carmex.

b. Next apply the color of your choice all over your lips.

c. Lastly apply a gloss to give your lips shine, add a little more to the center of your bottom lip to make your mouth look fuller.

Now strut your stuff chica! You've got it goin' on!

The Other Side- Are They Any Better?

Republican candidates

You've already seen the Democrats and their sense of style, so now you get the other political party: the Republicans. Rudy Giuliani is rackin' up on the the polls while Mike Huckabee is right behind him.

Mr. I- Can't-Make- Up- My- Mind

Here is Giuliani. This man sure likes striped ties. What is it with him? Every time you turn around he has a different striped tie on. It'd be different if it was a different tie and design, and I know that some are similar and everything but it's not like that. It's just that every tie is striped, they're practically the same but with different colors. Then there's his hair, oh boy oh boy. He just can't make up his mind on how he wants to have his hair done. Sometimes his hair is brown, sometimes it's gray. Sometimes he has a pretty good bit of hair, but sometimes it looks like there's barely anything there. Oh, but wait! These are only two examples of his choice difficulties. He also can't make up his mind about abortion. He claims that abortion is bad, but women should be able to choose. Mike Huckabee remarked," This is like saying slavery is bad, but let's practice it." All I can say is, way to go Giuliani. We know exactly what you mean. Um.. NOT!

But anyways... Last but not least, we have Mike Huckabee!

Mike Huckabee is the only candidate that I have seen in VERY casual apparel. He is formal when he needs to be, but you can definitely tell that he gets involved with what he's doing. Huckabee continues to climb the polls, while getting ridiculed along the way. Huckabee, an ordained southern baptist minister, had the toughest position on gay marriages. He continues to hold tight to his beliefs, while defending himself from previous comments he had made. He believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman. His casual attire, on the other hand, takes the edge off of the scrutiny that has or could come to him.

Time to Get Pretty!

Beautify Yourself

I found some new beauty products I would totally suggest trying

1. The foundation

This foundation is incredible! It goes on smooth and keeps you from having put your hands on your face, which always helps. It stays on for a very long time and the brush is gentle. It gives you a glow that continues to stay with you while you wear it. I would suggest putting a matte on over it to keep from looking oily. A good one to try is Loreal Stay Matte.

2. The Mascara
This is CoverGirl Volume Exact Mascara. I recently bought it at the neighboring Wal-Mart and have everything but regrets. I absolutely love it! It separates your lashes while making them beautiful and vibrant. Your eyelashes will totally stand out! People ask me if I have fake eyelashes now! Mine are somewhat long anyways but I normally don't get asked that! I can definitely tell the difference with this mascara!

3. Get Hairapy!

Sunsilk! Everyone hates that winter hair! Static kills! I just bought some shampoo from Wal- Mart and decided to give it a try. Well, turns out that it works. I love it! The first night I used it I could immediately tell the difference! Hey, right when I got out of the shower I could tell my hair had changed! I don't have the stuff you put in it after the conditioner, (the one in the middle) but I will probably try it. But, other than that, it's crazy good!

Their clothes say more than they think they do.

Who will it be?

The presidential election is coming up and well, it's definitely going to be interesting. Let's see we have Hillary and Obama for the Democrats, while Giuliani and Huckabee bring up the Republican party.

So we've got Hillary..

She is pretty much predictable. Every time you see her she is in a blazer with a simple pearl necklace around her neck. Can she not spice it up a little? I mean come on. You can wear something a little different every once in a while. Why does a woman have to be a man to get elected? In order to get on the poll, she has to fit in with the men. She dresses professional and never leaves this, like so many of the men do. Do her managers and supervisors tell her that she has to wear this? Obviously there's a reason, but I can only wonder what it is. I mean I respect the whole, "I need to look nice and professional in front of the public" thing, but you don't have to wear the same thing all the time... And for some unknown reason, every time I see her, she looks like she's going to bite someone's head off, but maybe that's her thing, who knows.

And then we've got Barack...

Barack, Barack, what can we say? Well, I've got to hand it to him, atleast he wears pretty ties! :) But on the other hand, it'd be nice to see him in some friendly jeans every now and again, or atleast something a little more casual than a suit. But, what is it with Barack and Hillary? They're like death against each other! Cool it! Everywhere I look I see something that has both of them looking like they're going to kill each other! What's up with that! If we're looking for world peace, they're really setting a good example.

Which leads me to my next point, not too long ago Hillary put the smack down on Obama. They were asked if they would talk to leaders of rogue nations if they were elected president, and Hillary did NOT like Obama's response. He said that he would, in fact, speak with other leaders during his first year in office, and she said that his comment was, "Irresponsible and naive." She thinks that the president "should only meet with world leaders who are hostile to the U.S. after lower-level diplomatic contacts are conducted." It's good that they are communicating, it shows us what they stand for. But, you could be a little more mature about it. Irresponsible and naive is something I would expect a high schooler to be saying to their parents about a childish fight. Overall though, it will be a tough competition. Each candidate has something different to offer, I guess it just depends on what the voters are looking for.. Who will you choose?

p.s. The Republicans are coming shortly..
